As a regular beachcomber I enjoy the ritual of
collecting and sorting. The beauty of everyday scraps
transformed by the sea into enigmatic little treasures
always fills me with wonder, each piece exposing
intricate markings and evocative forms. Often their
beauty lies within their fragility and sense of
history.
I try to retain and recreate these qualities whilst
adding silver and experimenting with the finish to make
sandcastle tools. With larger or more fragile pieces of
driftwood I also make wall pieces, which can
incorporate domestic items such as vessels and spoons.
Each piece is unique.
The tools can be bought individually or as a boxed set
which consists of about 7 tools in a beautifully
designed box with a glass “lift off” lid
and hallmarked silver plaque. This can be played with
like a small beach as a solitary pleasure or enjoyed
with friends.
